My Approach

Connecting the mind and body

My approach is based on connecting the mind and body, to restore balance, wellbeing and clarity.

Mind-body practices acknowledge that our thoughts, emotions and physiology are linked. This connection creates a body-mind that influences and is influenced by all aspects of a person’s physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing.

Mind-body practices bring together neuroscience, psychology and physical therapies for deep, holistic healing.
When we explore somatic therapies, we are honouring our mind-body awareness and the innate wisdom of our body — we are bring our body-mind back to wholeness.

We are taking steps to embody our true self.

How do body-based practices differ from traditional therapy?

Traditional talk therapy primarily focuses on what’s going on in your head. It looks at modifying your thoughts without releasing the source of those thoughts.

And many people leave feeling unsure of how to change or feeling that how they feel is wrong. They experience a constant struggle between how they think and feel and how they want to think and feel.

Body-based practices have become the fourth wave in therapy. They are revolutionising traditional talk therapy by including the body’s experience of those thoughts and feelings. We can go beyond acknowledging a traumatic experience, and safely work through the experience to gently release it from our body.

Emotion and trauma live in the body, not the mind. By befriending our body, we can unblock and heal past events, and be liberated from trauma symptoms, stress and pain.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)

Take power back into your own hands. Much like acupuncture, EFT achieves healing through stimulating the body’s acupressure points, using gentle pressure from your fingers rather than needles.

The techniques require you to focus on what you want to change in your life. With this in mind, you tap gently with your own fingertips on points around the face and shoulders while concentrating on how it feels.

EFT helps discharge emotional distress and negative thoughts and restore your body to ‘rest and repair’, a state where maintenance and healing can occur. It rapidly relieves stress and balances mind and body—the key to optimal health and healing.

Matrix Reimprinting

Matrix Reimprinting is a safe and gentle psychosomatic technique that finds and releases trauma. The process allows you to access memories, trauma or limiting beliefs and swiftly and safely change them into new, more positive ones.

During a session, we clear the emotional charge surrounding a memory and dissolve the limiting thoughts and behaviours that it may have set in motion. These beliefs become no longer true or relevant to your present or future.

With over 3 years’ as a certified Matrix Reimprinting practitioner, I can help you release long-held traumas from the body and start living the life you deserve.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is the practice of being in the present moment, rather than being preoccupied with the past or projecting into the future. It brings greater awareness to the mind-body connection, taking a step back from what our nervous system may be telling us.

Mindful practice allows you to be who you are, in the here and now, without attachment or judgement. It can uncover unconscious thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and so that you can make conscious decisions about what you want to do instead.

Visualisation

Visualisation uses the power of your mind to instruct your body how to use its energy and resources. It draws on the evidence-based research of Dr. David Hamilton, in which visualisations stimulate a ‘placebo’ response. Visualisation has been shown to improve healing in stroke and cancer patients and enhance high-level sports and arts performance. Together we can design visualisations that are personal and specific to your situation.

Yoga

Find your centre and balance. Yoga is the practice of connecting the body and the mind. Taking time out of your busy life to inhabit your body with loving awareness. Paying attention and listening to our own body as you find your edge and your peace.

With my yoga practice, a safe space is held for every individual, allowing your self-connection and confidence to grow. In a flowing practice, we find our strength, stability and contentment. What we experience on the mat, we take with us into our lives.

I absolutely love working with Lou she is such a genuine caring and loving person and she really knows her stuff. Since starting to work with her through my blocks I have found that I am really growing as a person and am becoming more free to be the real me. If you are thinking about whether or not to work with Lou *Just do It*. You will be so pleased you did.
