As humans, we have an innate ability to overcome challenges and heal ourselves from within.  But sometimes, trauma can trap us in a moment and this has lasting effects on our body, mind and nervous system.

We can feel exhausted, helpless, and panicked or even develop health conditions that are difficult to understand and heal.

The important thing to know is that you don’t have to feel this way forever.

 Hi, I’m Lou.

I use body-based therapies to help people who have experienced traumatic events, stress and pain heal. I’ve developed a range of signature programs that help restore the mind-body connection and release trauma from the body.

My programs have a strong emphasis on safety, allowing people to relax, reflect and even laugh. I welcome you to join me and explore what might be possible for you.

Workshops

My workshops will introduce you to a range of somatic practices that you can use to overcome negative beliefs, memories or experiences. You’ll learn how to use evidence-based EFT tapping to release thoughts, feelings and patterns that no longer serve you.

Workshops can cover specific topics, including:

●        sustainable self-care and compassion

●        stress and overwhelm

●        anxiety and depression

●        body image and self-acceptance

●        chronic pain

●        cravings and addiction

●        accepting and recovering from serious illness

●        sleep issues and insomnia

●        performance anxiety and perfectionism.

These workshops can also offer health professionals, educators and caregivers tools to help others suffering trauma, chronic illness and pain, depression and anxiety. I customise each workshop to the specific needs and goals of a group.

Workshops are held in a small, supportive group environment, and generally run for two to three hours.

Guest speaking

Over the years, I’ve been honoured to speak at a number of self-care empowerment events and retreats.

In these safe and nurtured environments, I share my experience and knowledge on self-care and the importance of connecting to your own body and intuition. I talk about practical ways to free yourself from constant struggle and self-doubt, and set the foundation for growth.

Mindfulness meditation

Strengthen your mind-body connection with short courses and workshops on mindfulness meditation.

Mindfulness meditation is a practical and simple way to improve your health and happiness. It helps reduce stress, anxiety, depression and pain, and create a sense of calm and awareness.

In each sitting, we practice a variety of mindfulness techniques, such as mindful movement, breath and guided meditation, and relaxed body scanning. There are opportunities to discuss meditation and mindfulness, and learn ways to bring this practice into your daily life.

Dog-assisted therapy

Dog-assisted therapy is a calm, comforting experience that can be used to enhance and complement traditional forms of therapy. Through the soothing company of Kevin, the border collie, adults and children can benefit from the emotional support a dog can offer.

Dog-assisted therapy is particularly effective with:

●        soothing people in times of stress

●        team building and boosting morale

●        relieving stress

●        making connections

●        supporting people during medical procedures or therapy sessions.

My therapy-dog, Kev, and I volunteer in the StoryDogs reading program in a local Hervey Bay school and at a local medical centre. We can also be engaged to visit organisations, events or individuals.
